Tesla Punk 220W Steampunk Box Mod Review

Forgive the speedy turnaround, but I was too excited to wait. Because the Tesla Punk is an absolutely fantastic vape mod, and a new figurehead in my collection. Hyperbole? Not really – once you get a hold of this substantial beauty, you’ll understand why I’m glowing so much to start a review.

There are just a few nitpicky things that keep the Tesla Punk from all-time all-star status, but they’re so minor, you’re probably going to yell at me in the comments section. Until then, read on to see why the Tesla Punk should be on your shopping short list for 2018.

When you pick up the Tesla Punk in its packaging, you’d be forgiven for thinking there’s a wealth of extras in the box. And the offerings are certainly good, to be sure. But that weight you’re feeling? That’s almost entirely the Punk.  No, this is not a “toss it in your pocket and forget it” vape device.

Sure, at 86x56x30mm, you can certainly carry the Tesla Punk in a pocket or purse, but you’ll definitely know it’s there. Tesla lists the Mod at 200 grams in heft, but I think that might be conservative. Of all the Mods in my collection, this is by far the heaviest.

But with the heft comes stunning design, most notably the thick glass that covers both sides of the Punk, allowing both the steampunk accents and the circuitry to be visible to the user. (A subtle, but effective LED light further enhances the effect.) Also gorgeous is the rock-solid beveled edges, which frame the Mod without overshadowing the steampunk-style gears and cogs.

One mild concern I had during our preview was the potential for catastrophic damage if the heavy, glass-covered Punk fell onto a hard surface. I also said I didn’t plan to test that. Well, the universe had other plans. Because my brushed zinc alloy test Model took an inadvertent tumble from a four-foot high table onto a hardwood floor.

Finally, the other nitpicky issue I had with the Punk is the slide off battery door, which detaches completely. While this door is secure once it’s in place, it’s far too easy to remove. And, by detaching entirely, I can see users accidentally misplacing it. I’m not going to lambaste the Tesla Punk because it lacks a battery door hinge, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t have been a welcome decision.Thankfully, this unexpected test turned out fine, with both the glass and the metal surviving without a scratch. Clearly, Tesla designed the Punk for everyday use. That said, I do NOTrecommend trying this at home, because things could have gone a lot worse under different circumstances.

The Tesla Punk Box Mod

Focus On www.urvapin.com For More Vape Start Kit.

The Tesla PunkA  is fusion of “steampunk” design elements with a bit of the futuristic RGB LED Light-up functionality (the the Mod doesn’t actually need), the Tesla Punk 220W TC Box Mod does indeed deliver a unique design of a  transparent chassis and intelligent chipset that meets the needs of modern Vapers, but with a cool factor of steampunk influences.

Operating the Tesla Punk Box Mod

Beneath the ornate steampunk exterior comes a surprisingly simple user interface. Though the display itself is fairly rudimentary – with all pertinent information at the ready – Tesla chose to keep the focus on functionality, so the gorgeous design could take center stage. The balance is perfect.

Another welcome item was the 0.5-ohm increment adjustments, which make it easier and faster to scroll to a desired wattage. Like I mentioned in the preview, I appreciate control and customization, but I don’t necessarily see a major difference from tenths of a percentage, and neither will most.Users can easily make adjustments to resistance, wattage, voltage, preheat, coil material and more, via the bright screen and simple button interface. But it never gets in the way of the overall aesthetic.

Thanks to the Punk’s control setup, navigating the menu trees is easy (made easier by well-documented instructions). I still wish the third button was used for something other than activation and adjustment of the LED backlight, but in terms of simplicity, Tesla has done well with this chipset, and I only hope other companies take notice of how streamlined the system is.

The buttons themselves are pristine. Both the control buttons and the fire key are beautifully constructed, with a reassuring throw to each of them. The fire key, in particular, has an outstanding clicky feel.

The up/down controls sit in a slightly recessed cutout so they’re flush with the edge of the Mod. At first, I didn’t think much of this design choice, but when taking the Punk out for the night, I never had any issues with random button presses or inadvertent adjustments.

The USB charge/upgrade port works well, though I wasn’t thrilled with the speed of the charging itself. The documentation doesn’t indicate whether or not it’s 2-amp charging, but topping off my 18650s took longer than expected. Using an external charger is always preferable for safety, but here, it’s probably best to leave the USB for upgrades only.

Vaping the Tesla Punk Box Mod

Now that my little nitpicks are out of the way, let’s get to the good stuff. Vaping the Tesla Punk was an absolute pleasure, from first puff to last. Regardless of what types of coils I threw at the Punk, it adjusted and offered nothing short of stellar vape quality.

At my usual 70-90 watts, the Punk’s battery life was much better. Though not a world-beater in this category, Tesla has created another efficient, reliable device that can get most users through the waking hours before needing to swap cells.Starting with my usual “stress test” I’m thrilled to report that 220 watts is no myth, as the Punk hits these heights with ease – yes, even with 18650 cells. As expected, vaping at these levels dramatically reduces battery life, but the Punk never once stuttered or skipped a beat when trying to push its limits.

Now, I might not be the most intricate TC vaper, nor do I make a ton of adjustments once I get to a desired setting, but I can say the Punk’s simplified operations made me more adventurous. I tinkered with wattage adjustments and preheat settings throughout the experience, and the Punk never threw up an error, or booted me to a menu – things I experience far too often in Modern Mods.

My only minor complaint was that it was far too easy to activate the LED backlighting when vaping the Tesla Punk. Though the button is positioned above the up/down controls, I found myself unexpectedly showered in light more than once. Hardly an actual problem.

The Wrap Up

And My Score for the Tesla Punk Mod

So, for those keeping score at home, my “big” complaints about the Tesla Punk are a detachable battery door and an oddly positioned LED light button. If those are my only gripes, it’s pretty safe to say this is a damn good vape Mod.

But, truth be told, the Tesla Punk is so much more. It is, at once, elegant, powerful, high-performing, classy and high-end. Its striking looks are backed up by some of the smoothest ramping and heating I’ve seen in a while, and flawless functionality with virtually any atomizer.

There’s no doubt it’s large, but the Tesla Punk Box Mod is a tremendous piece of craftsmanship, and an instant showpiece for your collection.

OUMIER WASP NANO REVIEW

FIRST IMPRESSION OUT OF THE BOX:

Man, is this thing tiny. They should have named it the Gnat instead of the Wasp. This may be one of the smallest atomizers I’ve ever seen. Comes in a two-tiered box. The atomizer is on the top tier and the spares with the rest of the goodies are on the bottom tier. Looks like they only give you two spare o’rings. Have o’rings gotten really expensive lately? Whatever, let’s throw a coil in here, wick this thing up and see how it vapes.

WHAT’S IN THE BOX:

  • 1pc Wasp Nano RDA
  • 1pc Spare kit
  • 1pc Organic Cotton
  • Squonking pin

Oumier Wasp Nano Review

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:

The Wasp Nano by Oumier comes with a combination drip tip/barrel/top cap. Normally, I would have preferred separate pieces but because of the diminutive size of this atomizer, I totally understand why they combined all three into one piece. The combination top part of the atomizer is made of all Ultem. I do like the look but I know some people are not crazy about the yellowish tint that Ultem has. I’ve heard it referred to as a derogatory bodily fluid color. It doesn’t bother me and I actually think it looks good on some mods. All that being said, the cap does work fine and it is very serviceable. I do find that my mouth is a little too close to the coils when I vape it this way so I have found a very tiny drip tip that acts like an extender for me when I’m using this atomizer. I have been running it this way for quite some time and so far, it has worked really well for me.

Oumier Wasp Nano Review

While I do like the top cap and it is quite comfortable while vaping, I am a little disappointed that there is only one. I know Ultem is supposed to be pretty durable but let’s face it, this thing is basically some type of plastic. It is eventually going to wear down, weather, or basically just wear out. I would have rather have seen some type of metal piece on the interior or at the very least, a spare. There are two air holes that coincide with air holes on the blocks of the deck when you line everything up. They are oval in shape and this atomizer does have adjustable airflow. The airflow on the Wasp Nano is very smooth and it does give you a pretty good range.

Oumier Wasp Nano Review

The base of the Wasp Nano has two rings going around the circumference of it. They do a nice job of keeping the top cap in place. On the bottom of the base, there is some Wasp Nano branding. There is also a negative post screw that can be removed with a Phillips head screwdriver. The 510 pin has an insulator ring around it and it is removable with a flat head screwdriver. The pin is gold plated and it does protrude from the o’ring insulator. The threading around the 510 pin is smooth and well done. So far, this atomizer has sat flush on every mod I have used it on.

Oumier Wasp Nano Review

THE DECK:

The deck on the Nano has two huge blocks. In the corner of each block, there is a flat head deck screw that coincides with the post hole on each one. The post holes themselves are not really huge but you will be able to get flat wire builds in there. The two post holes each have the sides of them open. So, as long as your coil is the right length and has the correct number of wraps, you should not have any problem sliding your coil into the post holes through the sides.

Oumier Wasp Nano Review

The blocks are kind of squared off at the ends but the long side of them has a curve that corresponds with the circular shape of the deck. The blocks are rather large but they do have an air flow cut out that goes through both blocks. Both blocks kind of form a channel where you place your coil. The air holes go through the blocks and come out in the middle of the channel. The channel itself definitely limits the width of the coil that you can use on the Nano. Because of the length between the two terminals, it also limits the amount of wraps that you can use. As I said earlier, most of the times, I do have to add a wrap or two to my coil in order to get it to fit properly. It’s a solidly constructed deck but at the same time, it is not a very roomy deck. You don’t have a lot of wiggle room as far as coil placement goes. I do love this deck and I like the enclosed feeling that it gives off. I’m sure this type of design definitely contributes to the fantastic flavor on the Wasp Nano.

Focus On www.ave40.com For More Vape Tank.

BUILDING AND WICKING:

This is a single coil deck and the Nano deck does take rather long coils. What I mean by long coils is on most of my pre-made coils that I buy, I normally have to add a wrap or two in order to get it to fit in the Wasp Nano. The post holes on the terminals are rather far apart. In fact, you could actually say that they are opposite each other on the circle part of the atomizer.

The deck does definitely constrain you when it comes to the type of build you can use. You definitely need to use a coil with more wraps than you normally would and you are also constrained by the channel. The deck channel goes as far as the width of your coil goes. The biggest coil you can fit in there is probably 3 mm. Building is pretty easy because you can slide your leads in through the open ends of the post holes. Once you secure your leads, there is a little wiggle room to adjust your coil but not much. I place my coil so it sits slightly above the interior air slots.

Oumier Wasp Nano Review

Wicking is actually pretty straightforward on this deck and very easy. Simply slide your cotton through the coil. I like to cut mine right around second o’ring when I measure it up against the base. I cut my cotton straight and I simply tuck it in on the sides.

The Wasp Nano does come with a squonk pin and I have to say that this little guy definitely excels as a squonker. It has a deep enough juice well for squonking and you really don’t have to worry about the juice dispersing evenly because the surface of the bottom of the deck is basically flat and wide open. There are really no other sides to this deck. It’s all one big deck with one nicely sized coil in the middle. I have used it on a squonker for quite some time now and it is definitely one of the better squonk atomizers on the market today. You can over squonk but it does take a lot of juice to do that. Oumier could have made this over squonk proof if they would have drilled out the air holes on the block on a downward slant. They definitely had enough room to pull that off. Oh well, maybe on the Wasp Nano II.

HOW DOES IT VAPE?

The Wasp Nano by Oumier does give you one fantastic vape especially when you consider that it’s a single coil atomizer. The vape is very flavorful and dense. I think that is due to the coils being so close to your mouth. I love to use this atomizer as my convention atomizer. Whenever I go to a vape convention, I hate using the plastic drip tips that they provide so I wind up bringing my own RDA. This is the perfect size for that type of situation because it only takes about 6 to 8 drops to fully saturate your cotton on this RDA. After that, you get about five or six pulls before you have to re-drip again. Just absolutely perfect for tasting juices and taking to a convention.

The flavor on the Wasp Nano is really on point as well. I like the smooth adjustable airflow and I like the clouds that it produces. While this is a single coil RDA, it is no tootle puffer. This thing can chuck clouds with some of the best of them. In fact, while I was walking around the vaping convention with this RDA, people would look at the size of it and then see the cloud that I would blow and say, ‘hey man, what are you vaping on?’. When they found out that it was actually a single coil RDA, most of the people were shocked. It has really good cloud production for an atomizer of its size.

I have always been a big fan of single coil atomizers. I just tend to love all of my one lungers. The reason I like them so much is because you get great flavor and, most of the times, great clouds while using a little more than half the power you normally would on the same coil as a dual build setup. I think it’s great because when you slap an atomizer like this on a dual 18650 mod, you get battery life for days. Just as an example when I used this atomizer at the show in Miami, I was running it at around 38 watts in power mode. I had it on top of my Minikin V2 and I was basically able to get through the whole show every day with one set of batteries. The show opened at 10 am and closed at 7 pm. In fact, only one time during the day did I actually have to swap out the batteries and it was on my way out of the convention center.

WHAT WOULD HAVE MADE IT BETTER:

  • More deck space
  • Larger post holes
  • Allen head grub screws
  • A second top cap
  • More spare o’rings
  • Make the drip tip part of the top cap a tad longer or better yet provide a removable extension piece
  • Air holes drilled on a downward slant

CONCLUSION:

If you are into single coil atomizer, then you definitely want to give the Wasp Nano a serious look. If you are a flavor chaser, you want to take a look at this atomizer as well. If you go to a lot of vape conventions and you don’t like using the provided drip tips like me, then this is the atomizer for you. It has some great build quality to it and the flavor is definitely on point. While this is a flavor first atomizer, the clouds on it or more than respectable as well. People will definitely be shocked when they see the cloud production on the Oumier Wasp Nano. This is also a great atomizer for people who DIY and like to taste some of their juices that they make in small batches. It only takes about 6 to 8 drops to fully saturate the cotton and you will get a good 5 or 6 pulls before you go dry.

I have a lot of atomizers to choose from in my daily rotation and the Wasp Nano has so far stood the test of time. I have been keeping it in my rotation for quite some time now because I have yet to find a single coil atomizer that beats it in flavor or cloud production. Once that happens, I will rotate it out and report back but for now, it’s the King of the Hill in that subcategory. If you meet the criteria that I noted above, you should definitely give the Wasp Nano a legitimate shot at your vaping dollars. It’s DeucesJack approved for the flavor chaser in you.

Geekvape Aegis Legend Starter Kit Review

Geekvape Aegis Legend Starter Kit Review

Geekvape Aegis Legend Starter Kit Introduction

Geekvape is one of my go-to companies if I am looking for reliability and a well-made product. I currently own and still use the original Griffin, Tsunami, Medusa RDA and the Blitzen. These continue to be used because they are great and have outlasted many other products in terms of build quality. Geekvape for me is one of those companies that just stick to what works and do not go down the same route as some other companies and cut corners when it comes to quality and quality control. This is why they will always be considered when they bring out a new product.

I felt happy to review the Geekvape Aegis Legend Starter Kit and since one of the upgrades from the original was the fact it took dual 18650s I was keen to give it a whirl. The original is now 9 months old so this is about the right time for an upgraded version to come out. Bundled in with the mod is the Aero Mesh Tank which I was most pleased to see as I am a big fan of mesh coils in tanks right now!

Geekvape Aegis Legend Starter Kit Packaging List

Inside the box, you will find:

  • Geekvape Aegis Legend Mod
  • Geekvape Aero Mesh Tank
  • Spare Coil
  • Spare parts
  • USB Lead (For charging and firmware upgrade)
  • Warranty and QC cards
  • Instructions

Everything that you would expect to find is included.

A Close Look at the Geekvape Aegis Legend Starter Kit

The Aegis Legend just looks class, in a different league to other box mods on the market. It really looks the part! I was sent the kit in the stealth black variant. It is also available in 4 other colour options. Personally, this was my favourite of the 5 options, I am not a fan of the brown leather look on the silver original and that has made an appearance with this one also. The Aegis packs some impressive stats as you can see below.

Aegis Legend MOD

  • Size: 90.5 x 58 x 30.6mm
  • MAX power output: 200W
  • Output mode: VW/VPC/TC/TCR/BYPASS/VPC
  • Resistance range: 0.05-3.0ohm
  • Material: Aluminum + Zinc alloy + silicone
  • Battery: 2x 18650 cells (not included)
  • Temperature Range: 100-315℃/200-600℉
  • Level: IP67 waterproof and dustproof; MIL-STD 810G-516.6 military grade shockproof

Geekvape Aegis Legend Starter Kit ReviewThe Aegis Legend straight out of the box feels comfortable to hold. Despite it being a little bigger than its predecessor it is extremely ergonomic in the hand. The leather grip piece adding comfort to the mod rather than just being there for looks. As you can see from the specs it is claimed that the mod is waterproof, shockproof and dustproof. I loved watching reviewers like The Devil Vaper and Vaping With Vic putting the original through torture to test these claims out. I did notice a disclaimer on the box about warranty being void if the damage is caused by liquid. Water is a liquid if there was any way that this did, in fact, damage the mod I would have thought that it should have been covered. I did reach out to Geekvape for confirmation but as yet have not had a reply.

Even Closer Look

Starting at the top of the mod. Right up top as you would expect, you will find the most central 510 connection. This is spring loaded and has a fair bit of play. To the left, you will see a small rubber covering that seals up the USB port, which is used for charging and firmware upgrades. Down the left side almost from top to bottom is a sleek plastic covering that surrounds the buttons and covers the screen. At the top of this side is the fire button, used also to power on and access the mode control system. Below is the screen which is of an average size but does contain all the information that you need in an easily readable font. Plus its a full-colour display with 3 colour variations to choose from. Below are the up and down buttons which control the various modes and when used in conjunction with each other or the fire button perform other functions too.

Focus On www.urvapin.com For More Vape Start Kit.

Buttons

  • Down or Up + Fire = Enter display brightness – Keep holding fire and press up and down to go between 0%-100% brightness. I did not notice much difference above 15% in normal conditions
  • Up+Down together locks the wattage/temp, press them again to unlock
  • Up+Down+Fire puts into stealth mode, the screen remains slightly illuminated but is blank. Press all three again to resume normal display.
  • Click Fire 3X fast enters the mode selection, indicated by the mode becoming highlighted. Up and down cycles the modes. Hold fire to confirm and select.
  • Click Fire 5x fast to turn on and off.

And More

Simple enough to operate and still enough options to have a play around with. Continuing with the look around. The base is where you will find the battery door. Constructed of 40hrc carbon steel this thing feels like it is a door to a vault! A sliding latch secures the door into the body. Continuing up the right side is the leather grip which looks and feels great. Red stitching compliments this design well. The front and back are partially the leather handgrip and an aluminium frame and silicone body covering. One thing I did notice is that not all micro USB leads fit, this is due to the shape of the cut out for the wire to go into. The included one fits perfectly. Mostly all you should be using the USB port for in any case is to perform firmware updates. Charging is recommended to be carried out externally.

Aero SubOhm Tank

The Aero mesh tank that comes with the kit is an impressive little tank. With a 5.5ml capacity when using the bubble glass. The mesh coils that come preinstalled give a fantastic amount of flavour and nice dense vapour production as I would expect from a mesh stock coil. Rated at 0.2ohm I was using the mesh coil with no issues at 70-80w and thoroughly enjoyed it. Coil life was around 3 weeks which is towards the longer end of the scale for a stock coil. However, with the included 0.15 quad coil I found the vaping experience a little dry and a little disappointing. That said its good to have variety as some people may not like the mesh coil. The quad coil for me also seemed more restrictive in terms of airflow. Another point worth mentioning is that the mesh coil also fits the Smok TFV8 baby tank which would be a massive upgrade for it in terms of coil!

Geekvape Aegis Legend Starter Kit ReviewSpecifications:

  • Diameter: 25mm
  • Capacity: 4ml
  • Coil Type: Super Mesh 0.2ohm (30-90w); IM4 0.15ohm (60-80w)
  • Thread: 510 thread

Included:

  • Aero Tank (with 0.2ohm super mesh coil)
  • Extra 0.15ohm IM4 coil
  • Spare parts pack
  • Spare glass tube
  • User manual

Geekvape Aegis Legend Starter Kit Final Thoughts

I have been using the Aegis Legend non-stop since first getting it through for review. I have found it to be incredibly user-friendly. As well as being ergonomic in the hand it is not too heavy. Especially when you consider all of the materials that have gone into this mod. I did not put it to any of the stress tests to test its shockproofing or waterproofing but I know that there will be reviewers out there that will do this in their own way over on Youtube. I am also aware that Mooch has also carried out his own testing to confirm all of the claims. That was good enough for me.

Geekvape Aegis Legend Starter KitThe AS chip gives a great deal of satisfaction when it comes to using the mod. Firing is fast and I even found myself enjoying temp control for a change. Everything was just so smooth! Do I feel that this is a good upgrade to the original Aegis? Yes, in many ways it is. It just feels a little better in the hand than the original and dual 18650 is a must for me. Though dual 20700 would be amazing!

iJoy Avenger 270 Kit Review – Like A Stroppy Teenager

Avenger 270 marketing bannerIntroduction: The Avenger 270 Kit from iJoy

The iJoy Avenger 270 kit includes the Avenger 270 voice control mod and the Avenger sub ohm tank.

iJoy like to stay at the forefront of technology and this I believe is the first voice controlled vape mod to be released. This was very quickly followed by the Smok I-Priv – I bet they wished they had been just a week or two earlier!

But yeah like you reading this I am also scratching my head as to what use a voice activated mod would be. At least the Smok one will talk back to you – useful if you are a bit lonely.

The Avenger is mute – it will only listen and respond to set commands after you say “Hello iJoy”.

Apart from the talky stuff the mod has plenty of other useful features and the AI voice control can be switched off completely and all functions accessed through the menu and mod buttons.

The mod will output up to 234W and takes 2 batteries. They can be 20700 which are not included in the kit unless you buy the battery kit option, or 21700 or 18650 with the included adaptor.

The kit tank is the Avenger sub ohm tank which also comes with a mesh coil head and a standard coil head.

There are 8 colour options – Matte Black, Matte Champagne Gold, Mirror Blue, Mirror Silver, Mirror Green, Mirror Purple, Mirror Rainbow 1 and Mirror Rainbow 2.avenger 270 colours

This kit is my own personal kit and my opinion as always is my own!

So time to sit down and have a little chat with my new vaping friend….

Build Quality & Design

My iJoy Avenger 270 kit came in the Mirror Blue colour – and it is very pretty!avenger 270 in hand

I would like to mention it comes in what appears to be a hardboard box – so everything is pristine and no damage from transit.

My eyesight isn’t the best but I do detect a very slight colour mismatch between the mod and the tank. It is minor but noticeable – to me!avenger 270 and tank

The finish is super shiny but the mod isn’t exactly “rattle free”.avenger with sky

On the left side of the mod the red bar is the fire button. There is a trim the same on the opposite side – but this is quite loose and rattles. It doesn’t help that I keep pressing the wrong side to fire the mod either! Being right handed I do tend to keep pressing the right side of the mod to fire – the fire bar is on the left.

For a large mod the screen is decent but not as big as some I have used – the X-Privscreen for instance was enormous. This is perfectly good with really nice graphics but this mod could handle a bigger screen.avenger 270 screen

It is not too heavy I have had heavier dual battery mods but it is big. Apparently according to iJoy you can use 30mm tanks on the mod with no overhang – so you can imagine what a chunk it is.

Here is the Avenger 270 mod compared to my Augvape V200 mod – also a dual battery device (but 18650 only).avenger 270 v200

Below the screen are the adjustment buttons which are a clear plastic almost a silicone finish. When the mod lights kick in these light up.

At the base of the mod is the battery door which considering some of the issues iJoy mods have suffered in the past – so far seems to be great – easy to open and close and stays shut!

The back of the mod has a black plain panel to match the front just without buttons or screen.

I won’t focus too much on the Avenger tank as our Laura-ann has already reviewed this and like me she loves it!avenger tank blue

Voice commands

Below is the list of voice commands to use when the voice control is set to “On” and after you have said “Hello iJoy”.

After saying “Hello iJoy” the microphone symbol should display on the screen then you can give one of the voice commands below.

Sadly I didn’t find a suitable occasion to test out the “Romantic Light” haha!

How To Install The Batteries

The mod does include a USB cable and port but this should be mainly used for firmware updates. It is not recommended to charge batteries whilst in the mod.

Get a good external charger and have some spare batteries and just swap them over when required.

Make sure to know your battery safety and do a quick visual check of the battery wraps to make sure there are no tears, dents or damage. Do not use damaged batteries and re-wrap any with damaged wraps as the outer casing of the battery is all a negative terminal – like the earth on a car.

Worth noting is the one pair of 18650 I used have double wraps and they fitted fine in the Avenger 270!

  • On the base of the mod is the battery door.
  • Put your thumb on the arrow and push the door away from the mod.avenger 270 open battery door
  • Be careful if there are batteries installed these may fall out.
  • The battery door displays the correct polarity for the battery installation.avenger 270 polarity markings
  • If using 18650 batteries you will need to install the adaptor into the mod first then install the batteries following the polarity markings on the back of the door.avenger 270 18650
  • If using 20700 or 21700 batteries you don’t need the adaptor so simply install them following the polarity markings on the door.
  • Close the door and slide in the direction of the arrow to secure.avenger 270 close battery door

How To Fill The Tank

  • Unscrew the top cap of the tank.
  • Squeeze e-liquid into the side ports – do not fill the centre hole.avenger tank refil
  • Replace the top cap.

How To Install The Coil Head

  • Remove the tank from the mod by unscrewing.
  • Turn the tank upside down.
  • Unscrew the tank base and if installed unscrew the coil.avenger coil removed
  • Screw a new coil into the tank base.avenger tank coil
  • Replace the tank base and fill the tank as described above.
  • Make sure to leave the tank 5-10 mins to soak up the e-liquid – especially important with mesh coils – a dry hit from mesh is evil.

Flavour & Cloud Production

As Laura-ann has already reviewed this tank and absolutely loved it I will just do a run-down of my findings as I think pretty much the same!

iJoy Avenger Tank Performance

Using 80% VG E-liquid at 6mg nicotine I used the X3-mesh coil first. I love this coil – in fact I have just had 3 more delivered!avenger tank side view

The X3-mesh is 0.15 ohm and rated between 40-90W and like Laura-ann I love it around 75W. Beautiful vape from this tank – lovely flavour too. I will also add the coil life from this mesh coil is so far proving great.

Sadly I haven’t been constantly using this mod as I had other kits to review but I have owned it about a month and use it every few days and the X3-mesh is still going strong.

The other coil in the kit is the X3-C1S which is 0.35ohm and rated 40-80W. This is not a patch on the mesh coil for flavour or heat but performs pretty well around 65W with good flavour and vapour. Just not quite as good – I wouldn’t be buying a pack of the X3-C1S put it that way.

You can also use any of the coils from the X3 range including the X3-RBA!ijoy avenger coils

Airflow wise you get everything from wide open to pretty much closed. If you have it set to almost closed there is a slight whistle. I mainly used in mid position and it gives a slight restrictive DTL vape.

This is a low resistance mesh coil so you might find it quite thirsty – I have personally found it no thirstier than the Horizon Falcon or Freemax Fireluke Mesh tanks which use similar coils and power.

iJoy Avenger 270 Mod Performance

This is where the mod isn’t quite up to scratch.

When I say “mod” I mean “voice control” specifically – the rest of the mod without the VC stuff is wonderful and does exactly as it should.

It is just very moody when you speak to it.

It either ignores you completely, does what it should or does something completely different.

I found talking fast does help it respond but even then “Power high” resulted in the wattage actually going down! It’s like having a belligerent teenager around!

So I would view the VC stuff as a bonus – if you can get it to work – without the VC switched on the mod is excellent – power output, battery life and screen etc all work perfectly well and the menu system is a breeze.

Using the supplied tank on another mod at 75W the vape feels the same – so as far as I can tell the power output seems truthful.

Just try not to ask it to do anything for you or it will storm off in a right huff.

Battery Life

This mod is so versatile you can use 2×20700 (some kits include these – mine didn’t) 2×18650 with adaptor or 2×21700 batteries.

But of course the power settings, tank, battery specs etc will all alter the battery life plus your own vaping habits.

As I don’t own a matched pair of 20700 or 21700 batteries I could only do a battery life test using a matched pair of 18650 batteries.

I haven’t seen it in the manual so it’s worth mentioning the wheels on the car on the display are the battery levels – one for each battery!

Vaping regularly at 75W I got 8.5 hours with dual Samsung 25R batteries.

Pros

  • Beautiful looking mod and tank – even though they don’t quite match
  • Excellent screen and menu system
  • Mod works a treat powerful and reliable
  • Battery door good and firm
  • Able to use 3 types of battery
  • Mesh coil head is a beauty
  • Great instructions
  • Avenger tank is excellent

Cons

  • Voice control works when it is in the mood to.
  • Wobbly red bar on side of mod
  • Colour match of tank and mod not quite perfect
  • Mirror finish and black panels are finger print magnets
  • Quite heavy and bulky but is a dual 21700 mod

Final Review Verdict

If buying the iJoy Avenger 270 kit for the Voice Control – don’t bother – it’s not very reliable!

If you think the voice control is fun and want to play but are not that bothered about it – then this kit is excellent. The price of this is pretty good on some sites compared to a similar output mod. Plus in the kit you get the excellent Avenger tank which is in my top 5 sub ohm tanks – it is that good!

If you get a good deal on this kit say £50-60 I think it is an excellent buy even if it ignores you. The mod works perfectly in manual control mode and the tank with the mesh coils is a beautiful vape.

The build quality isn’t horrendous but there is a bit of wobble to the trim opposite the fire bar. But the rest of the mod and tank have put up with some abuse and still operate and look pristine – apart from billions of fingerprints!

Voice control = bit of a fail but otherwise this kit is excellent.
